When planning our wedding several years ago there were two things (aside from all white long stem cala lilies as my bouquet, Jimmy Choo d’Orsay pumps as my shoe, and traveling to New York City for my Pronovias gown) that I really wanted: a waterfront venue and to have a day that we would always look back on and LOVE.
When looking at the photos today, I am so happy that I’m able to reminisce on a beautiful day surrounded by loved ones (some who unfortunately are no longer physically with us) and can say I wouldn’t change a thing.
Why? Because our day truly reflected us. We gathered approximately 125 guests, no wedding party, and began our ceremony in a sunset view room with a start time at half past five o’clock in the evening. After entering our ceremony space with our most dear family members locked in arms, we said our vows and ventured to a cocktail hour and dinner party that kept me on the dance floor for hours jamming to a super curated music set. When the majority of the guests departed, I slipped into jeans (blasphemy ☺) and my husband and I, along with a few of our best buds, left the venue for a nearby after party spot where the music, dancing (and tequila shots for some), continued into the early morning.
Best party ever. I’m thankful for November 6, 2010.
Over time we’ve been asked by many if Carter Group Creative planned weddings. It went from an outright no, avoiding them even, to giving it some thought, to today…
Our mission is to help clients celebrate all occasions- be it business or personal. Whether its camaraderie amongst teammates at a corporate event or family and friends gushing over a tiny onesie for the baby on the way, we are all about helping you enjoy the moments that really matter and crafting memories that last long after the guests go home.
After some time, soul searching, family discussions, and many team talks, I realized that if we were able to plan and design for couples who wanted to be their authentic selves, who wanted their celebration to really reflect what they wanted, even when that means F the trends, we are in!
Taking on just a few weddings per year (in the D.C. area and destination) to give you the celebration of your dreams, we are now available for full-service and partial wedding planning and design. And for those not getting married, don’t fret, we remain available for corporate and social events clients.
So, if you’re ready to begin your wedding journey, whether intimate, elaborate, local, or afar, and want to see if we’re your other perfect match, inquire with us.
Cheers to love and a celebration done YOUR way!
Angela
